HP tablet render leaks with way too much bezel on it

HP logo_

You all know of a company called Hewlett-Packard, or HP for short, a California based tech giant founded in 1939. Well, they’re back in business, sort of, considering they never went out of business… oh well, let me explain.

Let me clear up the above sentence. Basically every person who knows something about technology knows of HP, but they didn’t make much noise in smartphone/tablet industry in the last few years. HP is constantly trying to leave their mark but it’s just not working for them. They introduced a few devices for Indian market a few months back, something between a smartphone and a tablet, you can read more about it here.

This time around they’re going to try leave their mark with yet another tablet, if evleaks are to be believed that is. Images below reveal an unknown HP tablet and there’s not much to go on here, but that doesn’t seem to be Android KitKat running on the device, rather something that came before it. If it’s any consolation at least it looks like a near-stock Android experience. Front side of the devices looks hideous, I’m not one to hate on imperfections, but this is just awful. The bezels are way too thick and it just looks… well, not good. Back side of the device is somewhat better though. We’re really rooting for HP, competition is always good, but they have got to step up their game. What do you think about these images?

New Nexus tablet shows up on a Chromium tracker?

Nexus 8 Chromium issue tracker

Rumors regarding Google’s new Nexus tablet are all over the place. The rumors were initially pointing at LG as the manufacturer of the device and afterwards that spot was taken by HTC. Most rumors point to the fact that the device’s name will be Nexus 8 and that the screen will be somewhat larger than the current gen Nexus tablet, that is 7.9 or 8.9″, we’re heard it both ways. Nothing is set it stone, but this is our guess.

In some new developments regarding the new offering from Google, Myce speculates that the tablet has been mentioned in a Chromium issue tracker report. Codename of the device is “Flounder”, which is an oceanic fish. What makes Myce think this is a new Nexus device is the fact that Google named all of its previous Nexus offerings by a fish, their codenames that is. We can also find a word “fingerprint” in the report, which is probably a fingerprint scanner, but the context is unclear.

Along with the new tablet Google is probably going to release a new version of Android, version 4.5, which is also a speculation at this point, they still might surprise everyone and make that jump to version 5.0.

Do you think this leak is a new Nexus tablet? What do you think it will be called and who will manufacture it?

galaxy_note_tablet_FCC_12

Trying to satisfy consumers of all tastes, Samsung is likely producing a new tablet part of their Galaxy Note line. And in true Note fashion, the screen is going to be… bigger. This tablet is rumored to have a 12.2-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. Powering it would be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 3GB of RAM. As you can see in the image above, LTE Band 5 is supported, pointing to Korean carriers; therefore, it is unknown if it will make it to U.S. shores. Keep your eyes open for this device. Then again, it’s so large it would be hard not to notice.

T-Mobile to ‘unleash the tablet’ on October 23

T-Mobile will conduct a live tweet conference on October 23 where the wireless provider plans to announce a second part of the Uncarrier Phase 3.0.

What would an Un-leashed tablet look like?  Only T-Mobile can offer tablets to consumers in a highly disruptive Un-carrier way!  Come hear about our next market changing offer in our first ever live press conference on Twitter.

AT&T recently introduced a $5/day no-contract tablet plan that provides 250MB of data so it stands to reason that T-Mobile will one-up Ma Bell with tomorrow’s announcement. Perhaps 500MB or more is in order? Perhaps a week’s worth of data for $5.  We’re just spitballing our own lofty ideas, of course.

You can participate in the October 23 event by tweeting questions to T-Mobile’s CEO with a specific hashtag.

Oct. 23, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Text us or tweet us! Send your questions to @TMobile for John Legere and Mike Sievert with the hashtag #unleashthetablet. Or text a question to 313131 by typing in TMUSQA-your question (limit 160 characters). Questions will be answered live on twitter.com/TMobile and on a live audio stream at newsroom.t-mobile.com.

How would you unleash the tablet? What plans or pricing do you envision?
