Verizon’s shared data plans due in summer, aimed at multi-device users

On a call discussing the carrier’s Q1 earnings, Verizon CFO Francis Shammo talked briefly about their upcoming  shared data plans.  Without divulging any secrets or spilling full details, Shammo advised that these options should drive additional growth to their network.   As to how things will work remains unclear at this point, however Verizon suggests it will allow for customers to easily add “other devices” to their plan.

If you look at, though there’s going to be other categories that drive the growth of Wireless in the future, as I said, we will be launching our data share plan in mid-summer this year. We believe that, that plan, the way we have it designed, will enable our customers to easily connect other devices to that plan.

What would you like to see come out of Verizon’s shared data plans?  Would you pay an extra $10 per month to share your plan’s 3G/4G data across smartphones and tablets? Would you be more inclined to buy a device from Verizon if that were possible?
