Latest Dropbox update brings automatic picture uploads and more…

I’m sure you can agree, Dropbox is one handy service to have. It’s also quite popular with over 5 million downloads on the Android market. The free service that gives you a couple+ GeeBeez of storage “up in the cloud” with “anywhere access” to your most important data is now even better. We’ve covered some of this in our previous session regarding the recent Beta version, but they’ve fixed a few things and consider it stable enough for the masses. Now Dropbox can automatically upload new photos and videos taken, using either Wifi or your mobile data connection like 3G, 4G etc.

What’s New in this version:

  1. • Allows you to automatically uploads photos and videos in the background using Wi-Fi or data plan
  2. • Up to 3 GB of free space for uploading photos automatically (in 500 MB increments)
  3. • Upload files of any size
  4. • Various performance improvements & bug fixes
  5. We now store your Dropbox credentials in Android’s secure Account Manager. This means Dropbox can’t be installed on your SD Card and requires the “Your Accounts” permissions. These permissions only allows us to access accounts we create.
