LG G Watch promo video vaguely highlights features

lg_g_watchThe LG G Watch isn’t expected until later this month, leaving plenty of time for LG to hype the device. A new promo video attempts to create buzz about the device without giving too much away. Among the phrases mentioned:

  • “LG defines the smartwatch”
  • “Compatible with Android”
  • “Sleek and lightweight for all-day comfort”
  • “Metal body for a timeless look”
  • “Ready for anything, anytime with a single charge”
  • “Waterproof for your outdoor activities”

There’s obviously a lot still to be learned about the G Watch, but this video keeps our interest. Check out the video past the break.

LG announces new 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch G Pad Series tablets

lg_g_pad_7_8_10_press_release

While we have to wait until May 27 to see their upcoming smartphone, LG decided to announce the newest tablets to join the G Pad line. For now, we just have a brief overview of the tablets and no specifications to work with. More details will be given at MedPi 2014 in Monaco later this week.

Instead of limiting the line to just the G Pad 8.3, LG has welcomed new 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch tablets to create the G Pad Series. The company feels that one size does not fit all when it comes to tablets; therefore, this new trio serves just about everyone. The 7-inch is for portability and one-handed use. The 8-inch is optimal for multitasking and multimedia. And the big 10.1-inch member of the G Pad Series is for pure entertainment and fun.

We will have more on the specifications when the G Pad Series is fully unveiled. Hit the break for the full press release.

LG EXPANDS TABLET OPTIONS WITH NEW G PAD SERIES MODELS

Three New Tablets Satisfy Consumer Demand for More Choices to Fit Their Lifestyles

SEOUL, May 12, 201— LGElectronics (LG) is adding three new tablets to its G Pad series to offer more options for tablet users. The new G Pad devices — G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1 — will be unveiled at the MedPI 2014, one of the biggest IT/Tech trade show in Europe, taking place in Monaco from May 13-16. LG’s extended tablet portfolio, which also includes the well-received G Pad 8.3, will significantly expand LG’s footprint in the tablet market.

“Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizable screens without compromising portability,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Unlike smartphones, tablets are not one size fits all. So we designed the G Pad Series for a diverse target audience, some who prioritize portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts.”

Highlights of LG’s new G Pad Series tablets are:

?     G Pad 7.0 : Designed to be held in one hand, LG’s smallest tablet is a non-the-go entertainment hub that delivers both portability and power.

?     G Pad 8.0 :  With its 8-inch display, LG’s mid-sized tablet offer san immersive multimedia experience and smooth multitasking.

?     G Pad 10.1 : With the largest display and battery, LG’s 10.1-inch tablet provides endless hours of entertainment and fun.

The latest G Pad tablets will also include LG’s proprietary UX features such as QPair 2.0 and Knock CodeTM. With an updated version of QPair, which was first introduced on G Pad 8.3, users can effortlessly connect to their Android-powered smartphones via Bluetooth to receive notifications of calls and messages and now be able to respond directly from the G Pad. What’s more, Knock Code™ enables users to power on and unlock their LG smartphones in one easy step by entering a personalized “knock” pattern on the smartphone’s display. Knock Code™ offers convenience and greater security as the knock pattern can be entered anywhere on the screen in any size — with the display on or off — using a personalized sequence of two to eight taps for more than 80,000 possible combinations.

Additional details of LG’s new G Pad tablets including specifications and availability will be announced locally in the weeks ahead.

Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 evidence appears again

sony_verizon_xperia_z2

The Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 has been pretty evasive since we first heard rumors of its existence back in March. Today however, some more evidence of the device was leaked.

The leak shows an image of the device showing off its IP58 certification. We can just make out the Verizon logo on the back of the device, suggesting that it will in fact be released to Verizon. Despite this, officially the device will not be available to any of the big 4 major carriers, and will only be available unlocked via the Sony store, but that could change.

Verizon said to be getting the HTC Desire 610

htc_desire_610_navy

Life should not be all about flagship smartphones with cutting edge specifications. So it is always nice to see when a carrier opts to sell mid-range devices. They need some love too, after all. It looks like HTC and Verizon will be teaming up to bring the Desire 610 to Big Red customers.

On Twitter, @evleaks said that the handset would be heading to Verizon. And back in March, we heard that it would also be available through AT&T as well. Perhaps this is a sign other carriers like Sprint or T-Mobile will carry the Desire 610.
