HTC Zara to officially ship as ‘Desire 601?

HTC_Zara_Leaked_Image_826We’ve heard about the HTC ‘Zara’ quite a few times now, and we’re getting information today from @evleaks that the device will officially ship as the Desire 601.

We’ve also heard about the HTC Zara Mini a few times as well, which we now know will be code-named Z3, and could eventually be a part of the Desire series as well. It’s confusing, and it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that there really is only one device we’re looking at here.

To echo what we already know about the Desire 601, it’s going to be relatively mid-range with a 4.5-inch screen, a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a 8MP shooter (possibly not UltraPixel), 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage with a microSD slot, and a 2,100mAh battery. We expect to see Sense 5.5 laid over Android 4.3 which is pretty nice but not surprising.

More to come when the device is officially confirmed.

Moto X to have $99 price tag on-contract come Q4, will add ‘at least’ 4 new wood-grained backs

According to @evleaks, the Moto X will drop its price to $99 on-contract come Q4 2013 (which begins at the end of September), and will offer up 4 new wooden-grained backs to choose from. The one catch is that the wooden-back options will cost an extra $50, but the overall cost is still less than it is right now, so it might be a good idea to wait a bit until the price drops. They look very nice from the images— it makes sense that Moto will go the extra mile with this one.

Samsung UK hyping Galaxy Gear/Galaxy Note 3 via Facebook contest

Unpacked_EventSamsung UK has posted an image on their Facebook page, which offers users the chance to win “what will be unpacked” in Berlin on September 4th. Since the copy says that they will “reveal something new and groundbreaking,” we’re guessing that this is most likely referring to the Galaxy Gear (and not the Note 3). Either way, we do know Samsung will be offering the chance to win one or multiple devices to those that like their Facebook page. You’ve got to be in it to win it, so what are you waiting for?
